Pigs fixing problems

Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport is struggling with a geese/bird problem. These flocks of birds interfere with the plane routes and the safety of takeoffs and landings. When hit they can easily distract the pilot during landing or takeoff and can also be sucked into the engines. This can cause malfunctions which are expensive to fix or even, this might resolve in the plane crashing. Laser beams and special noises are used to scare (deter) the birds but that is not enough. That is when they decided to use pigs, which consume the beats that the geese are looking for in the area. In my opinion this is a very interesting initiative. It benefits both sides, us humans and the pigs that have a place to stay and food to eat. I think we should come up with ideas like this more often - fixing two problems at once. This shows that sometimes it is easy to fix complex issues. Also, we don’t need some new fancy machinery and sometimes all that is needed is a drift (group) of pigs. https://www.thegua...

Astroworld music festival

This week I read an article about the recent Astroworld music festival in Dallas. A nine-year-old boy named Ezra Blount is just one of the victims of the concert. As we know there are 10 people that have died during the concert. The reason behind all these casualties is the enormous crowd that has gathered for the event. Many people where trampled and stomped over by the mob of Travis Scott’s fans.  The star and the event organizers are under criminal investigation. In my opinion this is an awful tragedy and Travis Scott behaved inappropriately. It was clearly visible that people were passing out, receiving CPR and in the need of professional help. Even though, there where situations like this happening right in front of the performer, he still refused to stop the show. He kept singing and dancing like nothing is happening. I think this showed how little artist these days care about their fans. The only apology he gave was in an Instagram video that showed him crying. This video ...

Reflection 3

As we all know, today was the All-Saints’ Day. During my visit at the graveyard, something interesting caught my attention. While walking near the containers I saw the vast amount of the trash and grave candles from last year being thrown out. The amount of waste produced by this holiday is unimaginable. After coming back home I came across an information on the internet about the all-Saints’ Day being one of the holidays that produce the biggest amount of debris. I find this easy to believe. In my opinion we should start using more durable grave candles so we can use them for a longer time or just reuse the old one if they are in a good condition. Also, we should come up with a more eco friendly case for the wax. The one used at the moment is made out of thick plastic which isn’t really that great for the environment. The amount of pollution is at its peak so we should improvise some changes.
