National Parks of the world - Zhangjiajie

Image
Zhangjiajie National park is located in China and was formed in 1982. It is the oldest national park in China. It is an astonishing place and gives off “Avatar” vibes. All the grotesque peaks resemble the floating islands from the movie. They surely are the main attraction of the park and a magnet for visitors. It is said that every tourist has to visit the Yellow Stone Stronghold to complete his visit. It is a village with and the largest observation point in the park. The surrounding forest forms a perfect habitat for variety of animals. The ones worth mentioning are: golden pheasants, rhesus monkeys, giant salamanders, and musk deer. But after all, the majestic rock structures are what brings visitors through the gates of the park. If you are a fan of “Avatar” or just like magical experiences this is might be a place for you   https://www.travelchinaguide.com/attraction/hunan/zhangjiajie-national-forest-park.htm

National Parks of the world - Everglades

Image
Everglades is a national park located on a wetland near the shores of Florida. When you take a look at the horizon nothing is moving, not even the water. Even though, it looks like a static picture, this national park is beaming with different species of plants and wildlife.  The associated animal with this park is the one and only American crocodile and his brother, the alligator. Visitors can also encounter various species of turtles and birds (for example the wood stork, snail kite, bald eagle). Other reptiles living among the tall grass are snakes and lizards. The most dangerous predators in the park are the crocodiles and alligators, the Florida panther, black bears, wild boars, spiders, and snakes, especially the coral snake. This dangerous cold-blooded animal is unique for its color and the fact that it is equipped with the second most deadly venom in the snake kingdom (one place lower than the black mamba). To encounter all the different animals, you can attend boat trips,...

National Parks of the world - Fiordland

Image
Fiordland , located in New Zealand, became a designated National Park in 1952 and now is one of the biggest on earth. The 12,000 square kilometer area consists of fjords, mountains, forests, waterfalls and lakes. Visiting this park, we can witness one of the highest waterfalls on the earth- Sutherland Falls. Another astonishing thing found in the park are the takahe and kakapo. Those are unique species of parrots once thought to be extinct. The wide variety of animals reaching from dolphins and penguins to opossums and stoats is just one of the many reasons to visit this park. Just as any park located in the mountains it is rich in amazing hiking and biking trails but also there are beautiful caves waiting to be explored. A perfect example is the Anau Glow Worm Cave which is filled with glowing in the dark invertebrates. Another fascinating activity is sailing and kayaking in the lakes which are surrounded by marvelous views of the horizon. To summarize this park is a great alternative...

National Parks of the world - Mesa Verde

Image
Mesa Verde is one of the most unique national parks of the world. Located in the state of Colorado, this park is a bastion of human history. It consists of pit houses, pueblos, missionary towers, kivas and cliff dwellings built by shadowy stone age people. Experts say that these people settled there around 600 AD. What is so special about those constructions is the fact that they were built under rock overhangs and inside shallow caves. The biggest and most impressive structure is the cliff palace which includes over 200 rooms. The most adventures and fun attraction of the park is the balcony house where in order to sightsee the place you have to climb ladders and crawl through tight hallways. In the 1300 the whole population just vanished but we still cannot figure out the main reason why that happened. Even though, this national park does not have a huge variety of activities it is still a very interesting place to visit. It is an area rich of history that tells the story of America...

National Parks of the world - Sequoia

Image
Sequoia National Park , located in California, is home to the tallest trees in the world. The trees can reach heights as high as hundreds of feet’s. In 1890 the park was formed to prevent them from getting logged. Rooted in the park is the world’s greatest tree, the General Sherman Tree. It is 275 feet tall and its base is over 36 feet in diameter. Although the breath-taking trees seem to be the only attraction, they aren’t. Travelers are free to hike and explore caves found on the premises of the park. In my opinion a funny attraction worth visiting is the Tunnel Log. Some time ago a ginormous tree collapsed on a road and instead of trying to remove it they decided to drill a hole through it. Now it functions like any other ordinary tunnel and a perfect location for photos. Sequoia National Park is a great place to experience something extraordinary. Something that you can’t anywhere else.  Sources: https://travel.usnews.com/Sequoia_National_Park_CA/Things_To_Do/   ...
